Dia, Aplikasi Pembuat Diagram
Dia merupakan aplikasi yang berfungsi untuk menggambar diagram serta bersifat free dan open source. Software ini dikembangkan sebagai bagian dari GNOME oleh Alexander Larsson. Seperti yang diketahui, GNOME merupakan GUI yang berjalan di atas sistem operasi seperti Linux dan Solaris. Selain itu, perlu diketahui bahwa Dia dibuat menggunakan bahasa C.
Bila dilihat secara sekilas, Dia hampir mirip dengan software penggambar diagram lain, Microsoft Visio. Hal ini tak salah karena dalam proses pembuatan software Dia memang terinspirasi oleh Visio.

Tampilan VisioUntuk mendapatkan aplikasi Dia, cukup download di alamat http://dia-installer.de/ . Sampai tulisan ini diturunkan, Dia telah mencapai versi 0.97.1. Di halaman tersebut tersedia pilihan installer untuk Windows, Linux ataupun MacOS X. Ukuran installernya pun tak besar, hanya sekitar 18 Mb. Bandingkan dengan Visio yang sekitar 200 Mb. Mungkin, itulah salah satu keunggulan Dia dibandingan Visio. Namun keunggulan paling utamanya dibandingkan Visio adalah aplikasi Dia mampu berjalan dengan baik di platform Windows, Linux maupun MacOS X.

Tampilan DiaSebagai sebuah software, Dia tak hanya berfungsi untuk menggambar diagram tapi juga bisa untuk menggambar flowchart, diagram circuit, diagram jaringan, diagram logic, diagram jaringan komputer serta diagram lainnya. Selanjutnya, ketika gambar diagram/flowchart selesai dibuat, bisa disimpam dalam ekstensi *.jpg, *.png, *.wmf. *.cgm, *.vdx, dsb. Selain itu, Dia juga mendukung untuk bisa membuka dan mengolah file gambar dengan berbagai format XML.
Bagaimana cara menggunakan Dia? Berikut tips membuat sebuah flowchart sederhana menggunakan Aplikasi Dia,
1) Buka Aplikasi Dia, lalu klik New.
Gambar 12) Untuk memilih jenis diagram yang hendak digambar, pilih jenisnya pada kotak di atas kumpulan bentuk gambar(shape) seperti pada Gambar 2. Bentuk gambar yang tersedia akan menyesuaikan jenis diagram yang dipilih. Selanjutnya, Pilih flowchart untuk keperluan menggambar diagram flowchart. Gambar diagram flowchart menyesuaikan logic yang hendak Anda gunakan. Lalu, klik bentuk gambar (shape) yang dibutuhkan dan letakkan pada area gambar. Hasilnya terlihat pada Gambar 3.

Gambar 33) Hubungkan shape satu dengan yang lain dengan tanda panah. Caranya klik Line, lalu pilih jenis line yang akan dipakai seperti pada Gambar 4. Hasilya, akan terlihat di Gambar 5.

Gambar 54) Setelah jadi, tinggal isi shape tersebut dengan tulisan logic yang hendak dipasang. Untuk itu klik Text dan klik shape yang hendak diisi tulisan (Gambar 6). Hasilnya terlihat seperti Gambar 7.

Gambar 75) Setelah jadi diagram flowchart yang utuh, export gambar tersebut dalam ekstensi yang diinginkan, misal *.jpeg. Caranya, klik File > Eksport. Pilih ekstensi *.jpeg agar hasil gambar diagram berekstensi *.jpeg sehingga seperti Gambar 8.
